We have reached out to Town staff with a proposed alternate route for preserving the critical connection to the rainbow soccer fields from the intersection of S. Estes and Fordham.
Our proposed construction detour is an existing low-stress route that requires no work or investment from anyone; it's already there and used routinely by walkers in that neighborhood. It starts at the intersection of Fordham and S. Estes, goes south through the current construction zone for 250ft only (just over the bridge), turns left to skirt the northern edge of Rainbow Fields, continues east on the gravel road to OWASA's Rogerson Drive Pump Station (which is the square structure visible on the map), then turns right (south) on an existing maintained single-track path another 250ft to reach the intersection of Cleland Dr. and Rogerson Dr. Stay tuned and share your personal story in this blog’s comment section.
Oct 29 update from the Town: The sidepath is closed while the Town improves the path and extends it to Willow Drive. Learn more about this work.
Existing trail users should find alternate routes.
For now, the existing sidepath will be closed daily during work and will open in the evenings when the contractor is done for the day. Eventually the path will be closed day and night.
